SAP BW HANA Interview Series

1. Give me one of the most “UN-common” error you faced in the process chain ?

Ans: Few process chain errors includes:

  • Source system is pointing towards quality or development, rather than production after system refresh. Mostly basis needs to correct it.
  •  The file loaded to ADSO is in xlsx, but it should be loaded in .csv. So, it is throwing error for data invalid.
  • The object currently in use in process chain has been locked by some user and basis or bw consultant has to unlock it.
  • A sub-chain didn’t started automatically because it was scheduled by someone who is no more in the authorization group.

2. Give me some real-time scenarios where you have used the concept of “Selective Deletion” ?

Ans: Here are some real time scenerios :-

  •  When you want to delete the data for last ‘n’ number of weeks.
  • To delete any particular request number relevant data only.
  •  To delete any particular set of dataset.
  •  To delete data relevant to specific data packages, PO Number, specific Geo locations etc.

3. Which one are the most used Virtual Providers in SAP BW/HANA ?

Ans: Composite Provider is the most used virtual provider in SAP BW/HANA.

4. Do you move your extractor in production, if the relevant tables are not available in the source system ?

Ans: No, until and unless the relevant tables are not available in the source system, say ECC etc, we should not move our extractor to production. Also, proper UAT should be there for the relevant tables once they moved to ECC, then only relevant extractors should move.

5. Is it OK to delete the red request from target and reload the dtp, if it is delta load?

Ans: Delta DTP loads only the new data or changed data to the target. If it failed due to issues like Invalid char or error records, you may have the error data alone loaded to Error stack which you can edit and reload using an error DTP.

Else in case if your entire DTP failed, then you need to retrigger the DTP.
