How would you use a heatmap in SAP SAC to visualize this data, and what insights can be derived from this visualization?
Ans: To assess the product categories across multiple regions, we can create a visualization that uses the color gradients that represent the sales performances of each category within each region. This we can do by using a heatmap in SAC.
How can we create the heatmap in SAC:
– First, go to our story, and add the heat map chart there. Now, assign the dimensions and measures properly. Assign product category and region to dimensions and sales amount or revenue as the value to measure category.
For color gradients, no need to worry. SAP automatically applies the color gradient to the darker or brighter colors reflecting higher or lower sales, as required.
– If the heat map is not available, as an alternative we can also use the concept of crosstab with conditional formatting. We can set region to rows, product category to columns and sales amount to values. Inside styling options or conditional formatting options, we can apply color scaling to sales amount cells using gradient color.
There are some other ways also to enahcne the analysis which could be tooltip to show detailed metrics, input controls to slice heatmap as required, drill down or conditional alerts.
This way various color gradients can be used for providing proper visualizations using heatmap.
